Watermarking arts - discussion

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 21, 2015, 4:47 AM

At least I'm not a big fan of marking pictures but I respect the work of an artist. As you could see I also used a DA watermark to cover commissions. I just think that this work not only belongs to me, and not only I decide what to do with this work. Anyway, after reading a few comments I decide to remove this huge and not really pretty da watermarks from my work, but display pic in lower resolution. I just believe in people.
There's also another thing about marking. What do you think about it? It's easy just to sign your work somewhere in the corner if it's full art (and I always do it). But what if it's an art without backgroung - just a caracter, or object. I saw that many artist just adding their watermarks on that kind of work, but it's usually their nicknames or logos on keyplace of the art. Sometimes it doesn't look uhmm... nice(?) with work but protect against stealing. On the other hand, people are kind and usually warn an artist about stolen piece. So is it always better to mark your works or just trust people and "give" them your art to spread it freely around the world? I wanted to know your opinion because I'm just wondering if people prefer to see my works marked or just "free" and I don't really know how to solve it.

Don't even try to eat a lunch in break when you're working with acrylics... You can see your lunch again...
